Week 6 Waiver Targets

Fantasy Football Waiver Adds To Consider

By: Tony Kneepkens (@tonytk44)

These are the top players to consider adding from waivers this week. Unless otherwise noted, all players below are available in greater than 50% of Yahoo leagues (as of Sunday evening).

Week 6 teams on bye: Chiefs, Dolphins, Rams, Vikings

QB Streamer of the Week

Daniel Jones, NYG, Week 6 vs CIN

  • Jones had a solid game (257 yards passing / two TDs) and the Giants surprisingly won outright at Seattle last week despite missing their best offensive player, rookie WR phenom Malik Nabers, and another of their top weapons, veteran RB Devin Singletary.

  • Danny Dimes has been a top-15 fantasy QB in most formats this season and now gets the pleasure of hosting a Bengals defense that has really been struggling and allowing some big plays in their last three games against the Ravens (Lamar Jackson 348/4), Panthers (Andy Dalton 220/2), and Commanders (Jayden Daniels more total TDs than incompletions).

  • Low-priority add. Jones is my favorite (widely available) QB streamer this week based on his solid play this year and this week’s attractive matchup with a struggling Bengals defense.

  • 5% or less of FAAB.

RB Pickups

Tank Bigsby, JAX, Week 6 at CHI

  • Bigsby continued what appears to be a legitimate second-year breakout campaign with what is currently the top fantasy RB score of Week 5 in many formats. He totalled 129 scrimmage yards and a pair of TDs on his 14 touches last week.

  • High-priority add. Bigsby seems likely to have forced (at least) a timeshare with teammate Travis Etienne after leading the Jags in rushing in three of the four games he's been afforded a carry in this year. He's had 73+ rushing yards in each of those three games, an admittedly arbitrary figure that his teammate, Etienne, has yet to reach this season.

  • 20 - 30% of FAAB.

Tyrone Tracy, NYG, Week 6 vs CIN

  • Tracy, a rookie fourth-round draft pick, had a breakout performance filling in for an injured Devin Singletary last week, racking up 129 rushing yards on a team-high 18 carries. He handled the majority of RB opportunities after his RB teammate, Eric Gray, lost a costly fumble at the goal line that was returned for a TD.

  • High-priority add. Singletary is a capable veteran RB and should be back in the lineup soon, but Tracy’s performance last week should, at least in my opinion, keep him in the Giants’ plans even after Singletary returns.

  • 20 - 30% of FAAB.

Ty Chandler, MIN, Week 6 on bye

  • Chandler led the Vikings RB room last week after starter Aaron Jones left with a hip injury and did not return. He handled 14 carries and caught both of his targets, helping the Vikings improve to 5-0. Early reports are that Jones seems likely to have avoided a long-term issue (monitor Vikings reports to confirm). The Vikings are on bye this week.

  • Medium-priority add. Chandler has appeared in this column nearly every week. We should be stashing as many players like this (athletic, primary-backup RBs, especially on good teams) as we can on our benches, before they cost much or all of our FAAB to acquire them when a starter goes down.

  • 5 - 15% of FAAB.

Some additional lower-priority RB adds to consider:

  • Blake Corum (LAR) - Acted as the Rams’ primary backup RB (for the first time) last week over teammate Ronnie Rivers. Corum had 33 scrimmage yards on six touches. Remember, the Rams are on bye this week.

  • Jaylen Wright (MIA) - Led Miami in rushing yards last week after starter Devin Achane was ruled out with a concussion. Miami is also on bye this week.

WR Pickups

Jalen Tolbert, DAL, Week 6 vs DET

  • Tolbert, a 2022 Day 2 draft pick, led the Cowboys in targets, catches, and receiving yards in their comeback victory over the Steelers and caught the game-winning TD from QB Dak Prescott.

  • Medium-to-high priority add. Tolbert had been playing well this season even before teammate Brandin Cooks landed on IR with a knee injury. He should have every opportunity to carve out a permanent secondary role behind superstar WR CeeDee Lamb in a pass-heavy Cowboys offense this season.

  • 10 - 20% of FAAB.

Josh Downs, IND, Week 6 at TEN

  • Downs has the most targets on the Colts (26) since making his season debut in Week 3 after recovering from a high-ankle sprain. In his past two games, he’s caught 17 of 21 targets from backup QB extraordinaire Joe Flacco for 151 yards and a TD.

  • Medium-priority add. Downs is a talented WR and should be on fantasy rosters for his combination of existing role and his additional upside if Flacco continues to start, or ideally, if Colts starting QB Anthony Richardson looks more comfortable within the offense upon his return from his oblique injury (AR 50.6%, Flacco 70% completion rate this season).

  • 5 - 15% of FAAB.

Some additional lower-priority WR adds to consider:

  • Tutu Atwell (LAR) - Leads the oft-injured Rams in receiving yards this season. A unique player who could carve out a complementary, if unpredictable, role even after teammates Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua eventually return.

  • JuJu Smith-Schuster (KC) - As the Chiefs are currently constructed, JuJu seems likely to be on the field a lot. He has as good an opportunity as anyone on the KC roster to earn more targets in Rashee Rice’s absence.

TE Pickups

Cade Otton, TB, Week 6 at NO

  • Otton plays a full-time role for a pass-heavy Bucs team, and he’s caught 16 of 21 targets the past three games with 44+ yards each week.

  • Low-priority add. Otton is a fine back-end TE option in PPR formats or can be used as coverage for bye weeks in standard leagues.

  • 5% or less of FAAB.

Some additional lower-priority TE adds to consider:

  • Tyler Conklin (NYJ) - Continues to play a majority of snaps and has 15 catches from Aaron Rodgers over the past three games.

  • Jonnu Smith (MIA) - Jonnu caught five passes for 62 yards last week. Miami is on bye this week but managers in deeper leagues can stash Jonnu now with starting QB Tua Tagovailoa potentially returning as soon as Week 8.

DEFENSE (Top pickups for Week 6)

  1. Chargers (at Broncos)

  2. Texans (at Patriots)

  3. Eagles (vs Browns)
