Some things in fantasy football are easy. We know we should start Puka Nacua and Bijan Robinson. We know we should bench the backup running back who is only on our roster in case of injury and the guy who was ruled out early in the week. A lot of the decisions are made for us. However, there are a lot of things that are not so simple. All of the “in between” situations are what can make the difference between a few wins and losses, and therefore it can be the difference between a successful season or a failed season. Every Friday, we are here to help!!
I’ll take questions each week in our #fantasy-football channel in our Discord from people looking for Start/Sit advice and give my thoughts. This article will feature a few of those questions and responses each Friday, so join our Discord to be a part of the conversation or ask questions of your own!!
Question 1 :: Jaylen Warren vs. TreVeyon Henderson (0.5 PPR) (Maugello52)
Answer :: It is easy to get carried away with the hype and expectations for Henderson to take a larger role against the woeful Saints defense with Antonio Gibson out of the way, which could certainly happen, and it is also easy to be scared away from Warren in a tough matchup against the Browns with Kenneth Gainwell potentially stealing a meaningful amount of the work. That being said, you still have to start Warren here. We know at the very least he will have a slightly over 50% piece of the backfield in this matchup and will be utilized in the passing game. We can think/hope Henderson’s role grows, but it is far from a certainty. In DFS, maybe this is a different story, but in a heads-up matchup you want the certainty of Warren’s role.
Question 2 :: Start “Bill” (Jacory Croskey-Merritt) or Rico Dowdle in the Flex? (non-PPR) (Steelcityboy)
Answer :: Have to roll with Dowdle on this one. Both players are coming off terrific weeks and have great matchups in Week 6, but JCM is still splitting a lot of the backfield work while Dowdle is far and away the top option for the Panthers.
Question 3 :: Deebo Samuel or Kendrick Bourne? Kyle Pitts or Mason Taylor? (PPR) (Totally Not The FBI)
Answer :: Have to roll with Deebo at wide receiver. Terry McLaurin may be out once again and Deebo is far and away the top receiving option for Jayden Daniels in a great matchup. Bourne had a huge Week 5, but the 49ers expect to get Jauan Jennings back this week and Bourne won’t be catching people by surprise this time. As for the tight end spot, in a somewhat similar situation you have to roll with Pitts. The Falcons may not have Darnell Mooney this week and facing an elite Bills offense, their pass rate should be up. Meanwhile, Taylor has found a way to produce the last two weeks but the overall outlook of the Jets offense against the Broncos has me a bit worried about his situation for Week 6.
Question 4 :: Jakobi Meyers, Michael Carter, or Hassan Haskins? (PPR) (George)
Answer :: Have to roll with Meyers here, especially since it is a full point per reception. Meyers has not been great recently, but the matchup is solid here at home against the Titans. Carter and Haskins have paths to sizable workloads, but also have it squarely in their range of outcomes to have game script take them out of the picture completely. Just roll with Meyers, who is likely to see somewhere between six and 10 targets in a solid matchup.
