Now, let’s dive into today’s feature from the Daily Dose…
By: Mike Johnson (@mjohnson86)
Some things in fantasy football are easy. We know we should start Ja’Marr Chase and Bijan Robinson. We know we should bench the backup running back who is only on our roster in case of injury and the guy who was ruled out early in the week. A lot of the decisions are made for us. However, there are a lot of things that are not so simple. All of the “in between” situations are what can make the difference between a few wins and losses, and therefore it can be the difference between a successful season or a failed season. Every Friday, we are here to help!!
I’ll take questions each week in our #fantasy-football channel in our Discord from people looking for Start/Sit advice and give my thoughts. This article will feature a few of those questions and responses each Friday, so join our Discord to be a part of the conversation or ask questions of your own!!
Question 1 :: Chase Brown or Kenneth Walker III in PPR this week? (Matt)
Answer :: This is a situation with a lot of moving parts that we need to pay attention to. The Seahawks have a nice matchup with the Saints but have had a split backfield so far this season. Meanwhile, the Bengals have a tough matchup with the Vikings but Chase Brown has handled almost every running back touch this season. The X-Factor here is Seattle RB Zach Charbonnet, who has missed the first two practices of the week. If he is out, I would lock in Walker as the feature back in a good matchup over Brown in a tough matchup in his first game without Joe Burrow. However, if Charbonnet is able to play then I would roll with Brown. Due to the timing of games, you may have to make a choice prior to official word on Charbs, in which case just roll with the stability of Brown.
Question 2 :: Full PPR, pick 2 Flex spots: Bhayshul Tuten, Tyler Allgeier, TreVeyon Henderson, Josh Downs? (Milliyon)
Answer :: Oh, this is a good one. There are a lot of different situations to think about, but I know who I like. First and foremost I will take Tuten, who has explosive ability and could post a really big game on limited touches – but I do think his role will continue to grow. For the other spot, give me Downs against the Titans. After a serviceable 6-51 line on eight targets against the Broncos and their elite secondary, I think Downs can be even better in this spot. Allgeier is interesting for the potential that he gets a lot of touches if they can blow out Carolina, while Henderson is very hard to trust right now. Both have the greatest risk of giving you nothing at the moment.
Question 3 :: Pick 2: Ricky Pearsall, DJ Moore, Jaylen Warren, or Rhamondre Stevenson? (dorito.38)
Answer :: Jaylen Warren had a great game in Week 2 and his main/only competition is Kenneth Gainwell. He faces a Patriots defense that has not performed well yet this year and I think he is quickly becoming the Steelers bell cow. Lock him in. For the other spot, I would roll with DJ Moore in this spot as he is playing in a potential shootout against the Cowboys. Rome Odunze has stolen the show so far this season, but Moore is simply too talented to not get in on the action at some point.
Question 4 :: Pick 2: Jameson Williams, Omarion Hampton, Ricky Pearsall, or “Bill” (Jacory Croskey-Merritt)? (GhostfaceJami)
Answer :: Lock in Jameson Williams as your Monday night hammer, that game could be a shootout. The other spot depends on the status of 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings. If Jennings is out, start Pearsall. If Jennings is active, start Hampton. Lucky for you, both games are in the late window on Sunday, so you will know the status of Jennings before you have to lock it in.
Question 5 :: Jordan Mason or Omarion Hampton? Non-PPR. (Chunk)
Answer :: Jordan Mason walks into the situation that we all hoped Omarion Hampton would already be in. The Vikings have explicitly stated that Mason will be a workhorse while Aaron Jones is out, and the matchup is pristine against the Bengals this week. Hampton’s season will certainly pick up steam at some point soon, but this week against the Broncos probably isn’t it.
