Week 10 Start/Sit Questions

Analysis of Fantasy Football Lineup Decisions

By: Mike Johnson (@mjohnson86)

Some things in fantasy football are easy. We know we should start Ja’Marr Chase and Saquon Barkley. We know we should bench the backup running back who is only on our roster in case of injury. A lot of the decisions are made for us. However, there are a lot of things that are not so simple. All of the “in between” situations are what can make the difference between a few wins and losses, and therefore it can be the difference between a successful season or a failed season. Every Friday, we are here to help!!

I’ll take questions each week in our #fantasy-football channel in our Discord from people looking for Start/Sit advice and give my thoughts. This article on Fridays will feature a few of those questions and responses, so join our Discord to be a part of the conversation or ask questions of your own!!

Question 1:: Caleb Williams or Bo Nix? (everytimeijosh)

Answer:: I like Williams by a decent amount in this spot. The Chiefs’ defense is legit and the Broncos were somewhat exposed by the Ravens last week. Meanwhile, and perhaps more importantly, Williams is in a great spot at home against a poor Patriots defense. Many people will take the negative sentiment around the Bears and move on from Williams, but I like his upside this week and think at the very least he posts a “solid” game.

Question 2:: Jameson Williams, Rico Dowdle, Brian Robinson. Currently have B-Rob, talk me out of it! (0.5 PPR, Flex spot) (Larejo)

Answer:: Process of elimination. First of all, I wouldn’t go with B-Rob here. His practice participation has been spotty again this week and the matchup with the Steelers is uninspiring. Even if he plays, I would assume he will split a lot of the work in a tough spot. So then it is Jameson Williams or Rico Dowdle. I’d roll with Dowdle in the 0.5 PPR format as he seems to be the clear lead RB for Dallas with Zeke in the doghouse and Dalvin only playing sparingly. With Cooper Rush at QB, I could see Dowdle catching several passes, and if the Cowboys do score a touchdown, the lead RB is a good bet for where it could come from. Jameson is a nice upside play due to his big-play ability, but he also has a low floor compared to Dowdle, who should have a big workload. I’d roll with Uncle Rico with the potential to swap Jameson in if after the early slate of games you find yourself in a big deficit.

Question 3:: Hunter Henry or Jake Ferguson this week at TE? (emtebr44)

Answer:: This is really close, as I like Henry a lot this week. With Cooper Rush starting for the Cowboys, I think my lean goes to Ferguson in a game I expect Dallas to be trailing most of the time. Both players are talented and should be on the field a lot and facing an opponent that is very good against WRs, so I expect both to see a healthy amount of targets this week. Ultimately the “right” play will likely come down to which of them can score a touchdown.

Question 4:: Would you rather play Austin Ekeler, Jalen McMillan, or Demarcus Robinson in the Superflex spot? Or I can drop them for Mac Jones or Xavier Worthy. (0.5 ppr) (Peach)

Answer:: I'd start Mac in that spot. Not a huge fan of his spot against MIN, but I almost always go with the QB in Superflex if the other options are fringe types like that. I'll add that if Brian Robinson were to miss this game again for Washington then I'd start Ekeler. Likewise, if Puka or Kupp were to miss for some reason, then I'd go with Demarcus.

Question 5:: Kyle Pitts or Trey McBride (TE-Prem, 1.5 PPR)  (salty39)

Answer:: This is a good problem to have. I love McBride this week, especially in the format you are playing in. The Cardinals are once again facing a defense that shuts down perimeter receivers like they did against the Bears last week. The difference this week is I expect the Jets offense to move the ball and score points, forcing Arizona to be more aggressive through the air. McBride is the TE3 in scoring through nine weeks and I expect him to be a top-3 option at his position once again this week.
