Now, let’s dive into today’s feature from the Daily Dose…
By :: Juan Carlos Blanco (@jcblanco22)
Each week, Streaming Sleepers will highlight at least five non-QB skill-position players that currently have sub-20% start or roster rates in season-long leagues but may be prudent options this week due to matchups and other circumstances, particularly in deeper formats.
Additionally, the plays suggested here could be viable DFS large-field tournament options for the coming slate and are likely to carry modest ownership rates in that format as well.
Nick Chubb, HOU at JAX - 18% start rate
Chubb’s current sub-20% start rate gives us a big name to start this week’s article with, and his relatively sparse usage by fantasy managers is at least slightly surprising.
The four-time 1,000-yard rusher looks healthier than he did in 2024 with the Browns, was encouragingly involved in the passing game in Week 2 (2-29 line on two targets), and boasts a 38.5% broken-tackle rate through his first pair of games despite tough matchups against the Rams and Buccaneers’ run defenses.
Chubb appears to have a firm grasp of the lead role and appears to have regained the explosiveness to gain some yards after contact, something he was amply capable of before his injury.
Elic Ayomanor, TEN vs. IND - 1% start rate
Ayomanor has been getting plenty of press in sharp fantasy circles since preseason, and even though he’s yet to deliver his first breakout game, it seems to be bubbling up under the surface.
As has already been mentioned in various pieces of OWS content, Ayomanor had the most unrealized air yards in Week 1. He then mustered a 4-56-1 line on six targets in Week 2, making an OBJ-like one-handed grab down the right sideline and a fantastic hustle play that resulted in a contested-catch TD.
Ayomanor currently lays claim to a whopping 39.7% of the Titans’ air yards, is drawing a target on 48.8% of his routes, and owns a solid 73% snap rate. The Colts’ defense did an admirable job against Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle in Week 1 but allowed 42- and 23-yard gains to Troy Franklin and Marvin Mims, respectively, in Week 2.
Quinshon Judkins, CLE vs. GB - 6% start rate
No training camp or preseason? No problem. Judkins went into his Week 2 debut vs. the Ravens ticketed for a limited role but finished the game with a team-high 10 carries and 61 rushing yards, along with three catches on three targets.
The rookie second-round pick’s conditioning should be even better in Week 3, and although game script could always threw a wrench into his usage, Judkins’ Week 2 role and ability to thrive right out of the gate – partly through an impressive 40.0% broken-tackle rate – shouldn’t be ignored.
Cooper Kupp, SEA vs. NO- 16% start rate
It was highly unlikely a receiver as decorated as Kupp was just going to see his production fall off a cliff if he was healthy, and the veteran wideout offered a glimpse of what he can still bring to the table in Week 2 with a 7-90-0 line on nine targets against the Steelers.
The chemistry with Sam Darnold seems to be developing, and the Saints present as a viable matchup after allowing 12.8 yards per catch to WRs and 54.8 receiving yards per game to WR2s through the first two weeks. With Jaxon Smith-Njigba likely to command plenty of attention after a pair of 100-yard games to open the season, Kupp could reap the benefits.
Romeo Doubs, GB at CLE - 4% start rate
Jayden Reed is out with a broken collarbone for the foreseeable future, and both Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks (in “Also Consider” section below) could be primary beneficiaries. Doubs has just a 5-96-1 line on nine targets in two games, but his participation rate is due to rise.
The veteran has Jordan Love’s trust and is averaging 19.2 yards per reception and 10.7 yards per target in the early going. Doubs can operate effectively in all three passing windows, and he saw a nice bump in routes from Week 1’s 19 to 28 in Week 2. The Browns have also conceded 13.2 yards per catch and four receiving TDs to WRs through two games, adding to Doubs’ appeal.
ALSO CONSIDER:
Dontayvion Wicks, GB at CLE- 1% start rate
Has a 75% catch rate through two games and ran 28 routes in Week 2 with Reed exiting in the first quarter. Could be similarly involved in Week 3.
Jake Tonges, SF vs. ARI - 2% roster rate
Quietly brought in four of five targets in first opportunity to work with Mac Jones in Week 2. Faces a Cardinals team that’s allowed a league-high 19 receptions to TEs in the first two games.
Jalen Nailor, MIN vs. CIN - 1% roster rate
Carson Wentz could actually be a short-term improvement over J.J. McCarthy (ankle). A home matchup against a Bengals team that allowed a 29-333-2 line to WRs through the first two games could set up Nailor, who saw a bump in production with a 3-31 line on five targets in Week 2, to be a beneficiary.
