Start/Sit Questions: Week 6
Analysis of Fantasy Football Lineup Decisions
By: Mike Johnson (@mjohnson86)
Some things in fantasy football are easy. We know we should start Tyreek Hill and Breece Hall. We know we should bench the backup running back who is only on our roster in case of injury. A lot of the decisions are made for us. However, there are a lot of things that are not so simple. All of the “in between” situations are what can make the difference between a few wins and losses, and therefore it can be the difference between a successful season or a failed season. Every Friday, we are here to help!!
I’ll take questions each week in our #fantasy-football channel in our Discord from people looking for Start/Sit advice and give my thoughts. This article on Fridays will feature a few of those questions and responses, so join our Discord to be a part of the conversation or ask questions of your own!!
Question 1:: Calvin Ridley or Christian Kirk? Rico Dowdle or Zack Moss? Kyle Pitts or Tucker Kraft? (PPR) (Brooks Truck)
Answer:: Ridley – Kirk plays a tough Bears pass defense (No. 2 in DVOA) and Ridley plays the struggling Colts secondary and is coming off a bye.
Dowdle – Rico took control of the Dallas backfield with 22 touches last week while Moss is still in a timeshare and battling an injury.
Kraft – This is really close and I don’t always like to “chase the points”, but Kraft has a great matchup and has shown he can not only make the plays that are there but also make things happen after the catch.
Question 2:: Need 1 RB, 1 Flex: Tank Bigsby, Dontayvion Wicks, Mike Williams, Bucky Irving, Trey Sermon, Noah Brown (andrewl9))
Answer:: Hard to say at this point, as three of those guys are waiting on injury news. Bigsby looked great and could have a bigger role, especially with Etienne dealing with a shoulder. The status of Wicks depends heavily on Christian Watson's availability. Irving is an auto start if Rachaad White is out, and White missed Thursday's practice. I'd say Sermon at RB and then choose from those other three depending how the injury reports play out.
Question 3:: Need to start two of these three:: Tyreek Hill / Christian Kirk / Dontayvion Wicks (shakey34)
Answer:: I'm not benching Tyreek yet. I know it has looked really bad recently, but he is still such an elite player and I feel like benching true studs like this hurts you more often than it helps over time. As for the other spot, I would start Kirk if Engram misses another week. I do think Engram plays, however, and my lean is slightly towards Wicks if Engram plays.
Question 4:: Dalton Schultz or Jake Ferguson? (wscooby)
Answer:: Going with Ferguson every week until further notice. Schultz may see a couple more targets with Nico Collins out, but Ferguson was already a high-end option at the position and Dallas is now without Brandin Cooks. Additionally, Dallas faces a Lions pass funnel defense this week.
Question 5:: Alec Pierce, Darius Slayton (if Nabers is out), Tre Tucker, Michael Wilson, or Mack Hollins? (0.5 PPR) (Peach)
Answer:: Slayton if Malik Nabers is out......or Pierce if Nabers plays. The tough part of this is that the Giants don’t play until Sunday night, so you will have to closely watch for reports on the availability of Nabers.
