Now, let’s dig into today’s feature from the Fantasy Scroll…
QB Tiers and Evals
By :: Mike Johnson (X: @mjohnson_86 -- Discord: @MJohnson86)
Tier 1 QBs – "The Studs"
This top group of QBs represents the modern age of football and essentially the “cheat code” at the QB position. Dual-threat QBs who can post big numbers rushing while having great offenses around them. Outside of injury, these four are virtual locks to finish as top-five QBs.
Lamar Jackson, BAL
Jackson has been in offensive coordinator Todd Monken’s system for two seasons and has won an MVP in 2023 and been the QB1 in 2024. His ability as a passer has taken another step and he is showing no signs of slowing down.
Josh Allen, BUF
QB1, QB1, QB2 over the last three seasons. Not much else needs to be said.
Jalen Hurts, PHI
Hurts has finished QB1, QB2, and QB6 in points per game over his three seasons since A.J. Brown joined the Eagles. The Super Bowl champion QB’s rushing ability and continued ascension as a passer ensures elite production as long as he is on the field.
Jayden Daniels, WAS
QB4 in his rookie season and fresh off an NFC Championship Game playoff run, Daniels quickly claimed his spot among the elite at the position.
Tier 2 QBs – “Knocking At The Door”
This tier features talented QBs with rushing ability and/or elite supporting casts on high-powered offenses. All of these players have the ability to post a top-five season if everything breaks right for them, but they will likely need positive touchdown variance and some outlier performances to do so.
Joe Burrow, CIN
Burrow at full health is a spectacle to watch. Arguably the best pure passer of the football in the league, Burrow has two All-World wide receivers, an explosive all-purpose RB, and an improved offensive line.
Patrick Mahomes, KC
Arguably the best supporting cast of his career awaits Mahomes as he looks to bounce back from an embarrassing Super Bowl loss. The Chiefs played a more conservative style in 2024, but if their defense takes a step back and Mahomes is allowed to air it out, he could remind everyone what he is capable of.
Kyler Murray, ARI
Kyler had a respectable QB11 finish in his first full season removed from his 2022 ACL tear. His supporting cast and coaching staff remain from last season, and that continuity should show up in the box scores.
Dak Prescott, DAL
The Cowboys’ defense and running game have a lot of questions, while Dak added another playmaking wide receiver and should be back to full strength. The Cowboys could challenge for the league lead in passing attempts.
Baker Mayfield, TB
QB10 and QB5 over the last two seasons, Mayfield has an elite supporting cast and a soft division. The biggest concerns for Mayfield will be the uncertainty of returns from injury for LT Tristan Wirfs and WR Chris Godwin, as well as a third offensive coordinator in three seasons.
Brock Purdy, SF
Purdy has been a top-10 QB in points per game each of the last two seasons and has underrated rushing ability. The biggest worry for him is the injury and depth situation in his receiving corps.
Tier 3 QBs -- "Pocket QBs with Great Supporting Casts"
