Buy Low, Sell High-Week 6
Players To Consider Making Fantasy Moves on This Week
By: Mike Johnson (@Mjohnson86)
These are the guys who public perception may be low on but have brighter days ahead…..as well as the guys who may be coming off a big game but have a tough schedule or potential role change in their future.
BUY LOW
Sam LaPorta, TE, DET
The Lions are coming off their Week 5 bye, which has a ton of value for us now. LaPorta has disappointed this season, but the tight end position as a whole has also been down. The Lions found their stride offensively in Week 4, dropping 42 points on the Seahawks. LaPorta also had a strong game in terms of target share (22%) and production (four receptions for 53 yards) despite a low game in terms of passing volume. Bigger days are certainly ahead, and LaPorta is a guy that you can plug into your TE spot going forward and open up roster spots by negating the need to ever roster two TEs the rest of the way, since his bye has already happened.
Deebo Samuel, WR, SF
The 49ers did a poor job of getting Deebo involved against the Cardinals and they paid the price for it. They missed him when he was out and since CMC is not coming back anytime soon, they need to figure some things out. Jordan Mason has done a nice job filling in for CMC, but he can’t do all the dynamic things CMC brought to the offense. San Francisco ranks 29th in red-zone offense this season and Deebo’s skill set is exactly what they need to tap into if they want to rectify that.
Rome Odunze, WR, CHI
While Odunze hasn’t had great production the last two weeks, rookie QB Caleb Williams is really coming into his own and his QB rating has improved every week this season. DJ Moore had the big game in Week 5 and is the top option here, but Odunze is going to have his share of strong performances to come. Veteran WR Keenan Allen is used almost entirely on underneath, lower-value routes and is no longer a guy who is going to soak up a bunch of work consistently. Think of Moore as the Ja’Marr Chase and Odunze as the Tee Higgins of this passing game, with Allen in the “Tyler Boyd” role. The Bears face the Jags, Commanders, and Cardinals the next three weeks before a matchup with the pass-funnel Patriots. Odunze should have a couple strong games during that stretch, and if anything ever happens to Moore, he would become the alpha in a passing game with an ascending young QB.
SELL HIGH
Breece Hall, RB, NYJ
If we exclude injuries, Hall has probably been the most disappointing selection from the first two rounds of fantasy drafts. Rookie RB Braelon Allen has looked great and the Jets’ offense has struggled, leaving Hall in a situation where he is no longer a true bell cow and is getting less scoring and receiving opportunities. The Jets threw the ball 54 times against the Vikings and Hall was only targeted on four of those. Now the Jets fired their head coach, and things certainly look rocky from an organizational standpoint. The Jets have a matchup with the Bills that is actually solid for RBs in Week 6, which can make him potentially more attractive to potential trade partners, but they have games against top-five run defenses of the Steelers and Texans in the next three weeks after that. If you can still get close to full value for Hall right now, do it before it’s too late.
